Joanie Wind (b. 1987, Tucson, Arizona, she/they) is a Detroit-based mixed media painter and award-winning filmmaker. With a visual lexicon that borrows from cowboy nostalgia, meme culture, and cheap plastic toys found at dollar stores, her work portrays the atomization of society, especially through the lenses of motherhood, online identities, and consumerism. Joanie holds a BFA in painting (2010) and an MFA in interdisciplinary art (2015) from Eastern Michigan University, and they exhibit their work internationally. Joanie currently teaches at College for Creative
